What are clear braces?

Made with tooth-colored materials, clear braces match the natural shade of your teeth. Clear braces offer a discreet alternative to traditional metal braces, which are visibly apparent when you smile. 

Traditional and clear braces function the same way. The brackets fit onto your teeth, while an archwire stabilizes them. Depending on the type of braces you choose, elastic ties or a self-ligating system help pull the teeth into a straighter position.

Ceramic braces

Ceramic braces use tooth-colored brackets and archwires to straighten misaligned teeth and improve bite problems. Like traditional metal braces, ceramic braces apply gradual force to shift your teeth into alignment. 

Tooth-colored materials allow ceramic braces to blend in with your teeth. They won’t be as noticeable as metal braces when you smile or speak. There are many pros and cons to ceramic braces. While they are more discreet, they also use larger brackets and are more likely to stain than traditional braces.

Damon™ Clear braces

Damon braces use a self-ligating system to move your teeth into the correct position. As a result, they require fewer tightening appointments than traditional and ceramic braces. Damon clear braces are also available in ceramic and transparent materials. With no metal clips or elastic ties, Damon braces are less visible than traditional ceramic braces.

Clear braces are an effective option for individuals with moderate to severe orthodontic concerns, such as an overbite or underbite, and aren’t candidates for clear aligners.
